by En March was a month of great change for and was therefore generally pretty eventful for all of the Weird Sisters. This month has flown by and none of us can quite remember where all those weeks have gone. So it's my job to remember for all of us & for all of you. So here goes . . . We've all been a bit stressed by the heavy workload (especially Ell & I [for they are foolish Social Science students, bwahaha! - MathsStudent[Z]Ed]) and the prospect of exam revision. However we have the lovely thought of owning our own house next year. Lots of lovely cosy evenings in with the Monopoly board that we're going to buy and with the video player that Zed's going to buy (which reminds me - must extend my video/DVD collection over the summer hols). I'm also looking forward to inviting friends (including non-UKC students) 'round. Also, marks permitting, I will be studying Law next year. The course I am currently doing is European Economics (Spanish). I would quite like to Spanish as well because I enjoy being able to speak such a nice language but think I would find it too difficult to do law in Spanish which I would have to do as part of a English & Spanish Law course. I find Law much more interesting than Economics and tend to get better marks in it, so it seems only logical that I would want to change. By changing degrees, it would mean that I wouldn't get to spend a year in Spain but it is worth the sacrifice to study a subject I really like. So, did we actually manage to have a life this month? Um, yeah I think so, although I did talk Ell & Zed into going to an Open Lecture entitled: "What is News? Entertainment in a Cynical Age" (amazing, isn't it? - we actually went to a lecture voluntarily). Andrew Marr, political editor of the BBC conducted the lecture & The Weird Sisters agreed it was v. good. Me, Ell & Zed were most probably the only first year undergraduates there - the rest of the audience was made up of post-grads & people over 35. Yes, you may call us "sad" for that if it makes you feel better. We all managed to see some rather fabulous films this month. I managed to see 2 Billy Wilder films - "Some Like It Hot" (a comedy) and "The Apartment" (a drama). The former I saw with just Ell and the latter with both Ell & Zed. I thought "Some Like It Hot" was great - really funny, although Ell & Zed thought that "The Apartment" had the better plot. Ell & Zed went to see "Quills which, unless you've been buried under sand for the past 6 months or so, you'll know is about the life of the Marquis de Sade. They thought it was pretty good. I've spent quite a bit of time outside classes with my friend from Economics, Anna & her friend Beckers, whom I've known since the beginning of the academic year. I hope to keep in touch with them next year as we get on really well with each other. Me, Ell & Zed wrote & uploaded many contributions to the website, including the Essential-To-Weird-Sisters-History Parody of "I Touch My Shelf" & the wonderful story of Tulip The Cow, which Ell & I very much enjoyed writing or random Friday or Saturday nights when we were bored. Yet again, I seem to be spending half my life on the internet. However, this month it is mainly because I've been writing to my new found internet friends. Firstly there is Connie & the rest of "Eric's Tomatoes", a sort of mailing list/fan club for female Eric Stoltz fans where, yep you guessed it, we swoon girlishly (and OK, I admit, sometimes a bit pathetically) over everything that is wonderful about that gorgeous, talented redhead (yeah, I know - pass the sick bucket). I am pleased to say that all the Tomatoes are totally lovely, mad & friendly. A big hi to all The Tomatoes! Secondly, there is Peter, who rapidly seems to be cultivating a reputation for himself of being just about one of the nicest, most intelligent & friendly guys around. He started signing Zed's guestbook but had some questions about Zed & her uni friends. I decided to answer some of them & we started writing really long guestbook entries to each other until I finally decided that we should start e-mailing each other. He has also helpfully provided Zed with some much-needed computer advice - Zed seems to have the computer from hell. A big hi to you too, honey! Zed & B are still going strong (awwwwwww - good for you!) but alas, Mr Dover & I have parted company. I won't go into details because the circumstances of our break-up are complicated & personal. However I will say that the relationship probably wouldn't have lasted much longer. Although he is physically attractive, we are two very different people - different likes/dislikes, interests & attitudes to life. I tried my hardest to make it work but it didn't. However it wasn't all (to paraphrase Zed) "Dume & Glume" - at least he managed to give me a (good) experience to remember (if you have an imagination, you can probably guess) & made Sadistics class (& my life outside it) a bit more interesting. Oh well, c'est la vie & onward and upward - the best in life is yet to come. So who's the next victim crush / potential boyfriend? All I can say is that I have someone in mind - someone really good-looking that I keep on bumping into. I think he's a post-grad but that's all I'm saying. If I get the chance, I'll try to strike up a conversation with him but whatever happens, work takes priority until June. Good luck to everyone in their end-year exams/finals.
Hasta luego, Miss En xxx
